Based on Kwid's platform, Redi Go with its very aggressive pricing has surprised many. Set high above the ground than its immediate competition, it boasts of a spacious and an airy cabin. Looks awkward from the rear, and exposed metal in interiors let it down, but value it offers for each penny spent makes it a strong product in the entry level segment.
India's own sports car, very stylishly designed that is certainly a head turner. Under the hood it has 310bhp powered 2000cc petrol engine. Though it looks stunning, it's wee bit overpriced.

Elite i20 has moved the game further ahead in the premium hatchback segment again. Facing stiff competition from Maruti Suzuki Baleno, it still holds a its own pretty well. Hyundai's take on Maruti Alto 800, Eon simply could not live up to the expectations. The initial years saw a few issues like vibration in gear lever, etc. but it was quickly sorted out. Bolero has been since long the best selling MUV in India, though now its facing stiff competition in sales numbers from Hyundai's Creta. Bolero lacks the modern touch one expects for an urban SUV and is quite outdated while lacking overall comfort. However, the simple and tough construction means its can take on years of rough use and that makes it quite utilitarian. Maintenance is very much on lower side which has helped Bolero earn a good reputation in rural market. Bolero is a "Rural Ruler".

Indica
Base Price : 4,04,241
Rating 5.7/10
Verdict
The original dream car by Ratan Tata that made the Indian tri-color proud in 1998, Indica continues to soldier on to this day. It does feel dated, but at the price point, its pretty much the standard fare. Drive qualtiy and interiors need to be moderanized for this car to survive for the next few years.
Indigo eCS
Base Price : 5,69,632
Rating 5.7/10
Verdict
Indigo is the pioneer of compact sedan and was the first to have sedan derived out of hatch in India. A practical car which ideally should have been succeded by Zest. Strong cab market demand means its still on sale and very much in demand.
Nano
Base Price : 1,99,500
Rating 5.8/10
Verdict
Nano came into existence as "The cheapest car in the world" which did not help its cause. However, with a host of recent improvements and now badged as Nano CX, it has become a serious player that offers an excellent urban commute. The added benefit of automatic variant means it's likely to win the respect of many first time car buyers.
Safari Dicor

Verdict
Safari Dicor is still on sale after arrival of Safari Storme. The engine is strong but the dynamcis need improvment. However, the fantastic ride and seats make it a comfortable long distance car and high seating offers commanding view ahead. A decision by heart-over-mind for sure. Niggles were known to be sorted out in Safari Storme.
Safari Storme
Base Price : 9,99,010
Rating 6.2/10
Verdict
Much improved Safari with significantly better ride and handling, more comfort and refinement and stronger motor. The fantastic comfort of rear seat was kept intact and Storme is known to have taken care of various other niggles that earlier Safari owners reported. Recently updated with a more powerful variant. Price should have been lower.
Sumo Gold
Base Price : 6,56,186
Rating 4.7/10
Verdict
Newer Sumo, now called Sumo Gold, is updated version of Sumo. Robust built that can handle abuse, and presence due to its proportions can be matched only by a few at this price point. A few safety features if added in can enhance the appeal of Sumo Gold. Practicality along with low maintenance means it still finds new rural homes.
Tiago
Base Price : 3,20,000
Rating 7.2/10
Verdict
Tiago is a product displaying how far ahead Tata has moved. Overall well finished, built well and has good space for the segment. Could be a game changer but the post sales and service experience has to be looked into. A value for money product that can revive the brand.
Xenon XT
Base Price : 9,95,753
Rating 5.9/10
Verdict
A huge, imposing life style vehicle, Xenon XT offers strong performing motor. Comfort is good, so is the predicatable handling for a car of this size. Its a large car, so a bit tight fit into ever compressing urban spaces. The high seating position and large size are obvious advantages but it lacks modern touch.
Zest
Base Price : 4,88,414
Rating 6.9/10
Verdict
Cover the badges on this car, and the fit and finish would make one feel as if this is a Europen or Japanese product. Fantastic seats, large cabin space and a car with switchable drive modes. Automatic diesel is also available. If we are nitpicking, the cabin storage space has to be worked upon and improvement in sales and service are probably the only factors holding the sales of Zest.
An import, but the Camry offers effortless performance. Rear seat space and comfort are of a special mention here, so is the stunning refinement. Looks premium and offers fantastic ride which adds to the excellent comfort. If anything, its the price that is a high. Toyota's legendary reliability further adds to its appeal.
Corolla Altis
Base Price : 13,55,184

Verdict
The current leader in its segment, Corolla Altis comes across as a car that offers best rear seat among its competitors. Large cabin, comfortable seat, good ride, predictable handling along all add up to a car which can be driven or be driven in. Etios
Base Price : 6,48,760
Rating 6.6/10
Verdict
With 2nd refresh in last 3 years, this is the most practical Etios yet. It's comfortable, mechanically solid and has decent safety kit for its price. Unimaginative appearance and few bits like stick out in an otherwise value-for-money preposition. Still a head-over-heart call.
Etios Cross
Base Price : 6,30,131
Rating 6.5/10

It's a Liva with a body kit, but surprisingly it looks better than Liva or even the well proportioned Etios. The higher price is difficult to justify over Liva, but still the Etios Cross does manage to find a new homes consistently.
Etios Liva
Base Price : 6,25,131
Rating 6.6/10
Verdict
Liva has all the characteristics of Etios which includes good comfort, ride, dynamics, efficiency in diesel format and also carry forward the downsides such as centrally mounted instrument console along with single wiper. For a hatch, it has nicely shaped boot and is a practical buy. Buying Liva is never a decision from the heart or is it?
Fortuner
Base Price : 25,92,000
Rating 6.9/10
Verdict
Current leader in its segment, Fortuner has a very tough build, offers strong performance and holds onto resale very well. However, the ride is lumpy and stiff, and the engine could have been more silent inside the cabin. A fantastic off-roader, the practicality and low ownership cost are tough to beat. Its just that price tag has gone up a wee bit too high.

Capable to dwarf even the mighty fortuner, Prado boasts of a huge cabin, comfort, ride and an extremely capable offroader. The price tag is high specially considering the relatively small engine. Only few cars come close to this car as an offroader and practical package.

Making its presence feel over last 6 decades now! Classic yet ever ageing design with beautiful curve lines. Insanely pricey in India for its 1.4 liter motor which can be matched by even cars with half the price. But ride experience and dynamics cannot be matched let apart its untouchable snob value. All new S60 is made better by improving already class leading safety deapartment, better equipments and ergonomics. Though engines are good but misses the punch and cabin is bit plain and simple for its class. But its dedication for safety makes sense justifying the pricey tag.

V 40 Cross Country
Base Price : 27,00,000
Rating 6.9/10
Verdict
A more practical variant based on V40 hatch, V40 cross country looks good enough to be a head turner. Very comfortable seats and good space, along with higher seating than V40 hatch make a difference in real world. Ride is stable and comfortable, handling is secure even at high speeds but it lacks 4 wheel drive system of any sort. Still, its a practical buy and also a nice long distance car offering quick performance for its class.
XC 60
Base Price : 45,50,000
Rating 6.9/10

Fully equipped compact SUV giving solid performance and very comfortable but not the best one to drive around. It is also bit cramped in cabin space against the rivals. Engines could have been bit more powered. One of the safest cage moving on roads to be in with volvo safety equipments fitted.
XC 90
Base Price : 64,90,000

Verdict
The gigantic SUV makes its presence felt with sharp design and classy interiors. Looks more elegant than its rivals and makes a strong statement as it tick boxes almost everything. Safety cannot be questioned even remotely. However the 2.0 litre diesel engine feels under powered for its segment and limited dealer network needs to be expanded.
